Loretta Paula Barthel Loretta Paula Barthel peacefully passed away in her home on July 1, 2010 at the age of 103. She was born to Theodore and Emlay Siepmann on Oct 29, 1906 in Pittsburg, PA. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Theodore Siepmann Jr., her husbands, Joseph Van Ryck, and Adolph Barthel, her children Jolore Karwoski, Theodore Van Ryck, Charles Van Ryck, and Joel Van Ryck. Loretta is survived by her sister Norma Milestone of Potomac, Maryland, her daughter Cynthia Weir, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Loretta lived life to the fullest enjoying time with family and friends, along with traveling. She worked for Sears n Roebuck, Seattle in the accounting department as the first women purchasing agent for the store before she married Adolph. She was a member of the Tacoma Rotoray Club, founding member of the German Club of Washington, a member of the Washington Generals and a member of the Port of Tacoma Business Community. Co operated Barthel Chemical Company with her son Theodore after Adolph's death. Memorial Services will be Thursday July 8, 2010 at the New Tacoma Cemetery, 9212 Chambers Creek Rd. W., Tacoma, WA 98467 at 3pm. Please visit [email protected] .
