Lori (Simms) Watson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 17, 2022.
Lori Ann (Simms) Watson fell asleep in death on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at home with her son and brother by her side. She was born in Milford, Delaware to Morris L. Simms and Norma E. Higgins Simms in 1962. She lived in Greenwood, DE until she was nine, attending Greenwood Elementary and Norma's Home Charm School.

In 1972 she moved with her parents to Wilmington DE and attended Shortlidge Elementary, Warner Middle School and Howard Career Center (Vocational School); studying Dental Assisting. Along with her studies she played the violin, and ran track and field. As an individual and team contributor Lori helped her team win State Divisional II Title. Lori loved to run, read and cook. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and family.

Lori entered the race for life when she dedicated her life and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 6, 1985. She enjoyed sharing in the preaching work, and teaching others of Jehovah God's loving promise for the earth, and the vindication of his name. She loved associating with the worldwide association of friends, brothers, and sisters. Always looked forward to attending the meetings and conventions; and placed her hope in the real life and the resurrection in the coming paradise earth! This is what kept her forward moving with joy, despite her personal health problems.

Lori moved to the Valley of the Sun, North Phoenix Arizona in 2002 and loved it there, even when temperatures reached 118 degrees; on second thought maybe not. Family told Lori that she would be back to the East coast (Delaware) in two weeks. However, Lori loved the mountains, captivating prickly treat of the cacti, and the sunset that captured her eyes. Not to mention the new spiritual family she met and loved in Shadow Mountain, Sunnyslope, Dreamy Draw, Desert Breeze and the Maricopa congregations, all while never forgetting her roots in Wilmington North congregation in Delaware - Lori enjoyed serving shoulder to shoulder with them all.

Being a servant of Jehovah shaped her values. Lori's faith from deep study of the bible, learning about Jehovah's explicit requirements, and applying his principals played a tremendous role in shaping her life. At times the reminders from Jehovah came like prickly sticks, but no matter, Lori stayed the path and allowed Jehovah to mold her into a beautiful, thoughtful person. Values that Lori cherished most were learned from the bible; honesty, loyalty, trustworthiness, commitment to working as hard as possible, and to grow in knowledge. Lori continued to develop applying teaching skills to help others learn about Jehovah's promises of life in a beautiful new world.

She found great joy in life! Ecclesiastes 3:12, 13 proved true for her. She was a Master Chef in her own rank, enjoying reading Bon Appetit magazine and trying a variety of recipes. She was very hospitable, always making it a point when cooking or entertaining for her guest, to always heightened the experience to another level. Exploring and traveling was also a favorite. She always had a positive spirit, looking at the silver lining of the misfortunes that came her way; finding something to laugh or smile about. This perhaps is what allowed her to beat the odds health-wise, in addition to her full reliance on her God and Father. Family was very important to her; always checking on others, and providing materially in some way. She had the knack of being tenacious in order to be of help to others, to the sacrifice of herself. Her grandchildren were the sunshine of her life. Warming her heart with their youthful antics, and especially when they attended any theocratic event with her.

Proceed in death by parents Morris and Norma Simms, son James Aarron Jr. (Simms) Watson; and three siblings Morris Simms Jr., Michael Simms, Sherri (Malone) Simms.

Survived by her loving son, Jarron (Nikki); her three grandchildren, Cannon Miles, Harper Rose and Jaymen McClain (step grandson).
Siblings: Lionel, Richard (Gregory), Keith, David and sister Schindel Barracks.

Sister-in-laws: Edith (Booker) Simms, Delores (Booker), Debbie (Roy) Simms, Mary (Johnson) Simms, Denise (Carter) Simms, Doreen (Butler) Simms, Jamie (Thomas) and three generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We remember our times with Lori in door to door service and the wonderful times we shared during speaker hospitality at our house. What a great cook - we look forward to the new system when we can visit and share a meal with her again.

Lori was a smart, kind and hospitable sister. Her love for Jehovah and her brothers and sisters was paramount in her life and shaped her personality. She was a riot to be around always a good time with lots of laughs! She was generous always giving little gifts and just sharing what she had with others. I went to Dreamy Draw congregation with her and loved her very much. I look forward to the time when our friendship will be forever in the paradise to come when we welcome back our beautiful sister! My deep condolences to her family and loving friends My prayers are with you.
