Lucille Azanow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 13 to Feb. 14, 2023.
Lucille Azanow of Holbrook, born in Boston, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2023. She was 95 years old. Daughter of Charles and Lena (Nottenberg) Federman. Wife of the late Leonard Azanow. Devoted Mother of Robert Azanow and his wife Judy of Holbrook, MA, Judith Lasser and her husband Ronald of Andover, MA. Grandmother of Jason Lasser, Avi Lasser and his wife Jessica and Great Grand-daughter Maya. Sister of the late Arnold Federman and Gladys Federman. Lucille was fond of her many nieces and nephews.

Lucille grew up in the West End of Boston and graduated from Girls High School in 1944 and went to work in the Charleston Navy Yard. She married Lenny in 1950 and moved to Holbrook in 1958. Lucille continued her love of Boston working at Tufts Dental School for 25 years. Lucille will be remembered for her convictions for Boston culture, Arts and Theater, and political discussions. Fiercely independent, she loved to travel exploring China, Paris, London and Italy to name a few. She ushered at local theaters, such that everyone knew her in the Boston theater scene.

The funeral service for Lucille will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Schlossberg Family's Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street in Canton, with the interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Lucille's service will be streamed on Zoom. A link will be provided. Shiva will be held at her late residence on Wednesday immediately following the burial, until 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucille's memory to the Arts, theater, culture, or a charity of your choice.

Lucille was a special friend to me these last few years. I loved to hear her views on politics, religion, arts and culture. She took me to my first opera at the ripe old age of 60. I will miss her stories of her childhood in Boston, her career at Tufts and her travel (particularly her trip to Paris). Mostly I will miss her laugh.
