Margaret Lennox Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 6, 2023.
March 25, 1933 - March 27, 2023

Margaret Edna (Madill) Lennox passed away peacefully at Mount Nemo LTC just two days after celebrating her 90th birthday. She is predeceased by Allan her husband of 61 years, and her brother Bruce Madill of Bond Head. Devoted mother of Michael, Versailles Kentucky and Wendy (Allan) Graham of Milton. She cherished her grandchildren Valerie Graham of Milton and Paul Graham of Chilliwack BC. She will be missed by her sister-in-law Sandy Madill of Bond Head, nephews Dan (Diane) Madill of Barrie, Kevin (Kim) Madill of Keswick and niece Cheryl Johnston of Barrie. Margaret was born on the family farm on Hwy 27 south of Bond Head. Her aspiration was to be a teacher. She finished High School in Bradford and attended Normal School (teachers college) in Toronto. Her first job was in a one-room schoolhouse in Lloydtown. With all the enthusiasm of a young teacher, she organized a Christmas concert, the first ever done at the school. The parents were so excited they pitched in to create a stage and curtains in the schoolhouse, a huge success. After marrying Allan in 1955, she moved to the Lennox farm in Innisfil. She returned to teaching on a part-time basis in the Simcoe County Separate School Board in the 1960's during a teachers shortage. Over the years she returned to teaching full-time and taught at St. John Vianney, St. Mary's and St Monica's schools in Barrie. She loved teaching and was always thinking of interesting things to do with her class. Over time she became a librarian and was one of the first teachers to do computer training in her school. She loved nothing more than introducing students to new experiences. After retirement she pursued an interest in quilting. She belonged to several quilt guilds and knew every quilt shop from Huntsville to St. Catharines. She took every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren. She moved to Barrington Place after Allan passed away. She enjoyed her time there with staff and residents. Sadly, she developed Alzheimers which progressed rapidly during COVID. She has spent the last eleven months in Mount Nemo Christian Nursing home in Burlington. Many thanks to the dedicated staff who attended to her needs in her last days. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the McKersie & Early Funeral Home on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. A Celebration of Margaret's Life will be held at Grace Anglican Church on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. Donations in honor of Margaret can be made to the Alzheimer's Society or St. Paul's Church Innisfil, which would be appreciated by the family.
