Dr. Maria Oss-Cech Chiachia, a friend of Margaret at the university of Calgary, just informed me of her passing. I am particularly saddened by her death for she was one of the brightest and nicest ladies who ever stepped in my classrooms. I also had the pleasure of meeting her husband who at one point accompanied her to my lectures. Stimulating exchanges soon ensued, making my teaching at once more pleasant and challenging. I will cherish their memory for a very long time.

Our most sincere condolences on the passing of a childhood friend. As ranch neighbours we played for hours on the hill & in the creek, & rode to school together. Staying in touch briefly over the last many years, Margi's amazing personality never changed. Our regards.

To Margie's family: heartfelt condolences. Margie left an incredible legacy, so rich was her spirit, so deep her love and commitment, I am sure, it will sustain all of you for a very long time. "Family first" was John's and Margie's motto.
Margie personified the word "humanism" in every sense. The message was really quite simple: love of learning for the betterment of humankind. Margie attended many courses at the University. Attending meant studying so that she could engage and support students. Her critical insights were rays of light for all of us.
Remarkable was also her determination to deepen her spiritually by enrolling and completing (while facing incredible physical difficulties) a two years program at the Living School Centre for Action and Contemplation!
Margie has now reached John and together, in Dante's words, they are embraced by a "new intelligence of love, far above the sphere". Grazie per la tua amicizia e la tua ispirazione Margie! May your family find peace and confort.

Melissa, Gillian and family. Margie was a beautiful lady and friend to us with enormous strength and spirit. We will miss her dearly, along with the times shared together in her kitchen telling stories and sharing photos. Always a wonderful conversationalist and willing to dispense sage advice. Rest In Peace our lovely friend. Our deepest sympathies. Glenna, Derek and family.
