Margot Walsh Obituary
Margot, the daughter of Elizabeth Keene and Elliot Holt, and granddaughter of Henry Holt (founder of the publishing firm Henry Holt & Co.), is survived by her children, Edward (Ned) deWitt Walsh III and Melissa Bigbee. She also leaves behind her granddaughters, Lisa Walsh Magill and Sonora Dicker-Walsh; great-granddaughter, Elisa Richburg; great-grandson, Chase Monday; and her brother, Elliot Holt.
A proud graduate of Chatham Hall, Margot was introduced to society at the Junior Assembly and the Allied Flag Ball in 1944. While studying at Sarah Lawrence, she accepted Edward deWitt Walsh Jr.'s marriage proposal, and they were wed in May 1946 (m. 1946 - 1968) after his US Army discharge. Towards the end of the Fifties, they left New York City for the British West Indies, settling in Barbados. Aside from a three-year stay in London, Margot remained in Barbados for nearly 40 years. Her joie de vivre and humor enriched a wonderful life, allowing her to cultivate a circle of lifelong friends across the globe. She even once danced with Charles III, King of England.
