Maria C. Garcia, 91, of Raymondville, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at home surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Beatrize Cantu, her brothers Manuel Cantu and Raul Cantu, and her sister Eloisa Garza.
She is survived by her sons, Roy (Nora) Garcia of Austin, Texas, Richard (Carmen) Garcia of Raymondville, Texas and Rene (Carmen) Garcia of Harlingen, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings Juan Cantu, Lydia Lucero, Eva Rios, Adan (Eloise) Cantu, and Eulalla Salazar. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren Dominic (Holly) Garcia, Ana (James) Goebler, Nicole (Marcus) Coronado, Eric Garcia, Cathy (Justin) Hasson. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
As a child in school her favorite sport was volley ball and horseback riding. She loved the piano as her favorite music instrument.
She was L. C. Smith cafeteria manager for 26 years. She loved her job and she loved to see all of the students come to eat at the cafeteria. She said that they were all of her children.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 am to 9:00 pm with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 pm at Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Raymondville.
The funeral procession will depart Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Raymondville on Thursday, August 23, at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am funeral mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father McDonald officiating.
Pallbearers will be Richard Garcia, Dominic Garcia, Eric Garcia, Marcus Coronado, Rudy Cantu, and Joe Rodriguez.
The family would like to thank Rosa Sosa, Maria C. Garcia's caregiver, Odyssey Hospice, and Joe and Lydia Rodriguez.
