Maria Melo Obituary
Taking care of her family was her main goal in life. She worked long and hard to make sure everyone was healthy, happy and safe. She always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart. As kids we thought we were rich because she always made us feel so loved, so special, that we never needed much else.
Her favorite time of year was summer because her kids were home from school. She made clothes for us from hand-me-downs and we were very proud to wear them.
Her cooking was amazing - she could make a feast from anything, a skill she learned from her mother. She had her father's inner happiness and great smile.
Alda is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jaime Braga Melo; children, Pedro, Maria, Manuel, Alda; daughters-in-law, Jewelle and Kristi; sons-in-law, Robinson and Lawrence; grandchildren, Peter, Daniel, Kim, Simone, Christian, Mireya, Sebastian, Elena, Sean and Jenny. Also surviving are her siblings, Evelyn and Albert Costa, Jose Braga, John and Maria Inez Braga, and Richard and Charla Braga. She was predeceased by an infant son, Jose de Carmo Melo; her parents, Manuel and Evelina Braga; sister, Maria Ornelas; and brothers, Manuel Braga and Antone Braga.
Words cannot describe the emptiness we feel. Nothing will ever be the same. Oh, Mom, how we love you so!
