Marianne "Anne" Odom Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2025.
Marianne "Anne" Wright Odom, 77, of Kilgore, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, David Hugh Odom; her children, Lisa Anne Stevens (Thomas Huxford Stevens) and Matthew David Odom (Sharon Cruz Odom); and her treasured grandson, Huxford McCloud Stevens.

Also surviving are her brother, William "Bill" Oliver Wright; her nephew, Wade Cole Wright (Holly Hermes Wright); her dear friend, Pamela Acker; and many family members in the San Antonio, Longview, and Henderson areas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Cole Wright and Mary Ellen Oliver Wright, and her niece, Jessica Wright Hollis.

Born in Longview, Texas, on March 31, 1948, Anne spent her early years in San Antonio and graduated from Alamo Heights High School. She held a lifelong love for the city-its culture, history, and memories always close to her heart.

Anne later attended Kilgore College, where she studied to become a physical therapy assistant. She went on to serve in that role for more than 20 years, known for her compassion, dedication, and ability to help others heal. Her warm spirit and quick wit made her a favorite among patients and coworkers alike.

Anne had a love for books and was an avid reader and cookbook collector. She was an exceptional cook. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of her lovingly prepared meals, and she delighted in cooking for her family. Her sense of humor-sharp, timely, and resilient-carried her and those around her through both joyful and challenging times.

Of all her roles in life, none brought her more joy than being a mom to her two children, and "Mae Mae" to her grandson, Huxford, who was the light of her life.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Havencare in Longview and Heart to Heart Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Anne in her final years.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Anne's life was a testament to love, laughter, and strength. She will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.
