Marilyn Selinger (nee Blair)

It is with great sadness we say goodbye to a loving wife, mother, grandma, great- grandma, sister and friend. Marilyn passed away peacefully at Sherbrooke Community Center, September 16, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was born November 29, 1936 in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan. She was the daughter of Eva and Alec Blair and youngest sister to Marjorie, Ron, and Gerald. They soon moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where Marilyn was raised. She was a conscientious person who approached all of her endeavors with enthusiasm and purpose. Marilyn loved music, she found joy in singing, dancing, and piano playing. She took great pride being a member of the Regina Lions Marching Band playing the drum. She was the first Wheat Queen of Saskatchewan touring various cities in Canada. After graduating from Scott Collegiate, Marilyn was hired as the receptionist for Imperial Oil and moved to the Government of Saskatchewan Finance as an Executive Secretary. She met her true love John and married on February 23, 1957. Marilyn's passion was her family. Left to carry her legacy and the memories of her life are husband John of 57 years, her 4 daughters and son in laws, Leanne and Dean Houston, Lynn and Craig Hoover, Lauren and Randy Smyth, Lana and Brian Skrudland. Grandchildren Erin, Kenny, Dana, Shane, Tory, John, Kristina, Jordan, Taylor, Richie, Rhett, Simon, Rudi, Carly. Great- grandchildren, Sullivan, Taytum and Jaxon. Step-grandchildren Trevor, Taylor, Sean, Candice, Kyle, Ashley and Step Great grandchildren Tiernan, Finn and Hendricks. Marilyn welcomed everyone she met with her quick smile, and warm heart, always graceful and elegant, sincere and honest. She loved to socialize and would always come to a party or get together with a real zest for life. You were a lucky person to have met Marilyn. The family would like to thank the staff at Sherbrooke Community Center, Reminiscent Way for making Marilyn comfortable in the last 4 years and continuing to give her the best of their care in her last days. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sherbrooke Community Center, Reminiscent Way, 401 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, S7H 2E7.
