Marjorie Knauss Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 22, 2020.
Marjorie Maxine Knauss, 93, of Coldwater, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020, at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A private funeral service for Marjorie will be held, with interment to follow in Mason Cemetery in Coldwater.
She was born June 11, 1927, to Roy and Emma (Hawkins) Sampsel in Litchfield. She was a Coldwater High School graduate, class of 1945. On December 18, 1948, she married her first husband, Richard Ulrich, who preceded her in death on December 7, 1974. In June of 1976, Marjorie married her second husband, Lyman Knauss, and he preceded her in death in 2005.
She had led a long career of 29 years serving as a bookkeeper at Southern Michigan Bank and Trust in Coldwater, until her retirement. Marjorie had been a faithful member to First Baptist Church in Coldwater, Red Hat Socity and Good Sam Travel Club for 17 years. She was a very accomplished seamstress and talented quilt-maker, but baking was always a favorite of hers. She enjoyed camping and solving crossword puzzles, but most of all, she loved her family. Marjorie was a very independent woman and her generosity of time and affection knew no limit; she was dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who filled her heart with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving Marjorie are her children, Suzanne Fillmore of Coldwater and John (Julie) Ulrich of Union City; her daughter-in-law Teresa Knauss of Coldwater; son-in-law Jerry DeNooyer of Kalamazoo; her stepdaughter Donna Knauss of New Mexico; her four grandchildren Rick (Tiffany) Fillmore, Ryan (Heather) Fillmore, Nancy (Nick Schultz) Ulrich and Daylon Ulrich; seven great-grandchildren; and her loving nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Richard; her second husband, Lyman; her daughter Joyce "Jo" DeNooyer; two sisters, Doris Sampsel and Leah Bakle; a son-in-law, Robert Fillmore; and her stepson Dan Knauss.

Dear Suzanne and John, I cannot attend the visitation tomorrow so I hope that you understand. Your mom was a special person in my life. She always remembered my birthday by sending a card or wishing me happy birthday. And now, and her time of need I can’t be there just say my goodbyes. May she rest in peace forever.
