Mark Anthony Boyd, at the young age of 54, ultimately succumbed to his lengthy battle with cancer on October 25, 2021. Mark Anthony was born on July 26, 1967, in Chicago, IL to the late Herbert and Ida Mae Ivy-Boyd. He grew up in the Morgan Park neighborhood where he attended Esmond Elementary School and Morgan Park High School in Chicago. After graduating high school, Mark Anthony joined the United States Navy where he spent 21 years and was honorably discharged and retired in October of 2007. Upon retiring, Mark attended Webster University where he received his M.B.A. in International Relations. He continued on to become a dedicated Civil Service Employee aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC. In addition to his parents, Mark Anthony was preceded in death by his siblings, Adrieanne Boyd, Dion Boyd, and Herbert Boyd, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Monique Boyd; his children, Damarkus (Susan) Boyd, Mia Boyd, Amina Meadows, and Mica Boyd and his grandchildren Jonathan, Alexander, Elizabeth, and Christopher; his siblings, Verdell Fowler, Carol (Grady) Williams, Lucinda Boyd, Diane Ross, Daniel Boyd, and Geraldine (George) Metoyer, and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mark enjoyed being in nature and found solace in keeping an immaculate yard. He was passionate about world affairs and enjoyed Discovery Channel programs, playing golf and bike riding.
A visitation will be held on Monday November 8, 2021, from 11 AM until his service begins at 12 PM at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel, 17730 Highway 17 N, Hampstead, NC. Interment will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery, Jacksonville, NC, with full military honors. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to: ASCPA, 381 Beckys Creek Rd, Hampstead, NC 28443.
