Mark E. Bowen

BOWEN, Mark E., gently slipped away at sunrise on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the age of 65 from MDS. Mark held a few jobs but his favorite was being a sub middle school teacher and the diving coach at the Woodmont Pool. He also loved to travel and was a great trip planner. He was lucky enough to travel to all 49 states. Mark was a lifelong faithful Packer fan, loved all kinds of music, especially live music, always hit the longest drive but worked hard on that putting. He especially loved his family beach house in N.C. and years waiting for the perfect wave. He went to Ferrum College where he met Carol and graduated from JMU.

Mark was predeceased by his parents, Braxton and Lois Bowen; and his father-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his brother, Jim Bowen (Marcia); sisters, Susan Scott (Danny) and Elizabeth Bowen Geiger (Hugh); mother-in-law, Lois Bell, Carol's siblings Bob Bell and Cathy Petrucelli (Chris), his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins; and his nap partner, Cody. Mark was a member of the Bon Air Baptist Church.

A family graveside service will be held on at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in N.C. A celebration of Mark's life will be held in Richmond at a later date. The family wants to thank the staff at UVA Infusion and Medical Center. My brave husband made the decision to stop treatments on his own so cancer did not win.
