Mark Morse Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 4, 2015.
CANISTEO/ALTOONA, Pa. - Mark Alan Morse, 46, passed away unexpectedly Saturday (Jan. 31, 2015) at his mother's home in Canisteo.

Born in Hornell, July 15, 1968, the son of the late Daniel and Barbara Morse-Green, Mark grew up in Canisteo until he married Paula Grassmeyer and moved to Altoona where he spent the past 22 years.

Mark loved the outdoors and spent many hours enjoying fishing and outdoor sports. While living in Altoona, Mark attended school and learned heating, plumbing and air conditioning. While in school he was asked to monitor and train some of the new students. Mark spent many hours enjoying the company of his grandson Isaac with his love of outdoors and teaching him to ride his bike. Isaac was one of the things Mark enjoyed the most and looked forward to the time spent at grandma and Pappy's house. Unfortunately he did not get to see his new grandchild, Ellie May, who was born while Mark was living in New York.

He was predeceased by his father, Daniel.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Grassmeyer Morse of Altoona; sons, Daniel and Merrill, both of Altoona; grandchildren, Isaac Scott and Ellie May; mother and step-father, Barbara (Richard) Green of Canisteo; brother, Brian (Diane) Morse of Hornell; and sister Kelly (Dan) Ranieri of Hilton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Honoring Mark's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A private viewing will be held at the convenience of the family at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home of Canisteo. Following cremation, his ashes will be shared with his family in Altoona, and a portion will be placed with his father in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo. His wife, Paula is planning a memorial service to celebrate Mark's life at a later date in Altoona.

Ms. Barb and Kelly,

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Mark was always very kind and a positive influence. I had not seen or talked with Mark since we were teenagers. In hearing of his passing I am humbled that I was able to have known your son/brother. CR

Mark and I were cousins...we used to play basketball, baseball and go fishing together. I remember him riding his unicycle around town. He would see my mom and always say "Hi Aunt Peachie!!!" I will miss him.
