Mark Sulzman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 22, 2024.
Mark was the oldest of Robert and Vivian Sulzman's six children, born in April of 1964 in Manhattan, Kansas.

His childhood was spent in Kansas, California, Nebraska and Colorado, finishing his education in Greeley, Colorado. He graduated from Greeley Central High School with the class of '82. He was active in athletics, including football and basketball and was a starting cornerback his final year with the football team.

Following graduation, Mark completed his bachelor's degree in Marketing, with a minor in Political Science from the University of Northern Colorado, also in Greeley. In 1990, he moved to San Francisco finding a long term position at RCM Capital Managment for seventeen years. It was during his time in San Francisco when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

In 2010 Mark married Janette Fergoi, from Peru, and in 2012 they gave birth to Sophia. Sophia occupied the dearest part of his heart for the rest of his life. Sophia was the last person he saw in his life here.

Throughout his life he was connected to many different types of people having a sincere interest in everyone he met. He was witty, intellectual, and had a gift for bringing out laughter in others, always smiling. Being supportive and preferring peace, he had no enemies. Being excitable and positive, he had a confident humility about him that was comforting.

Many people remember him as a special friend, even years after having been connected to him through school, work, scuba diving or other activities.

In addition to politics, history and world events, he was captivated by unexplained phenomena and he studied the Tao Te Ching. He also closely followed sports, which made for another way that he connected with both family and acquaintances alike. He was inspirational in how he accepted the progressive nature of his MS diagnosis over thirty years ago, and unwavering in his research of alternative health practices, nutrition and supplements for strengthening his body.

All who knew him will miss him, and were fortunate to know him.

Surviving Mark are many friends in Colorado and California, his mother Vivian, and his five siblings: Paul Sulzman, Laura Sulzman-Gorrity, Mary Sulzman, Chris Sulzman and Alison Sulzman-Sansone, and his wife and daughter.
