Mark Winkelbauer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 12, 2016.
Mark James Winkelbauer passed away on May 10, 2016. Mark was born on October 11, 1971 in Moline, Illinois and moved with his family to California in September 1977. He lived in La Palma, California since 1978. Mark graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in La Palma and was a Journeyman sheet metal worker after completing a five year apprenticeship. He worked for his father at Crest Construction and was his dad's right-hand man. Although Mark was not in good health, his passing was sudden and unexpected and has left a huge void in his family. In spite of his health problems, he enjoyed life and was a loving son and brother. Mark was a dedicated friend and eager to help out anyone who asked. He was a true blue LA Dodger fan and never missed listening to or watching a game. He could tell you anything you wanted to know about the Dodgers and considered baseball his favorite sport. Mark was also a Chicago Bears fan and cheered them on whenever they were on TV. Mark was a great bowler and belonged to two leagues. He would coach you if you asked and always had good advice. He also loved a game of cribbage and was prepared to play when anyone was up for it. Mark loved video games, jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku and was good at all of them. He loved dogs and all the little OCPoundhounds foster dogs that came to stay at the house. Mark was kind, a loving person and knowledgeable about many things. If you needed a math calculation, he could figure it in his head and give it to you in a minute. If you wanted to know something about the solar system, he could tell you that too. He knew so many things and everyone wondered how he knew what he did. Mark had a great smile with a twinkle in his eyes and was always eager to entertain, tell a joke or quote a movie line at the drop of a hat. Mark was loved by many and is already greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Mark is survived by his parents, Jim and Phyllis Winkelbauer; sisters Michele (Barry) Watkins and Wendy (Rusty) Coffelt; niece and nephew Kristin and Ryan Coffelt. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Pierce Brothers Mortuary 2425 W. Lincoln Ave., Anaheim.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate online to www.ocpoundhounds.com a 501(c)3 dog rescue organization.

My deepest condolences to Mark's family.
I never met him in person but I knew him for over a year. We chatted for hours and became really close. He helped me get through some really hard times in my life. I really hope he knew how much he meant to me.
You'll always be in my heart Rocky.

Mark it was just a few weeks ago we were all celebrating Easter. You will truly be missed at our family get togethers. If heaven is truly what I've been taught it is, then I and the rest of your family and friends are comforted to know you are in a better place. Until we meet again my friend, love ya, Vicki.
