Marshall Fox Obituary

Marshall S. Fox, age 74 of Springville, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2003 of cancer and Parkinsons Disease, at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born January 22, 1929 in Springville, Utah to John Alfred Fox and Margaret Chloe Boyer Fox. He married Joan Miner October 31, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.


Marshall worked road construction and was an equipment operator for Thorns Construction and WW Clyde. He worked at B.Y.U. for 27 years as supervisor of the heating and water treatment plants. He retired in August of 1991. Marshall was a member of the BYU Administrative Advisory Committee, the 20/30 Club, Kiwanis, and a former member of the operating engineers union. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Springville Playhouse, and was an actor in many of the plays and musicals. For many years, Joan and Marshall sang together at funerals and other functions.


Marshall was an LDS Bishop of the Kolob 2nd Ward, member of the Kolob Stake High Council, and in the Kolob Stake Presidency. He was a loving home teacher and held many other callings. He served an LDS mission to the East Central States, and then with his wife Joan to the Melbourne, Australia Mission. He also served many years as an ordinance worker at the Provo Temple. His family was everything to him. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.


He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rulon and two sisters, Margaret Smith and Toni Ferguson. He is survived by his wife, Joan M. Fox and children: Richard Lynn (Terry) Fox of Mapleton; Marsha (Terry) Dalton of Allen, TX; Debbie Robinson of Springville; David Reed (Laurel) Fox of Springville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Merlin J. (Jean) Fox of Springville and sisters: Helen Sanford; Doreen (Ron) Schouten of St. George; Annie (Ed) Forshee of Washington, UT; and Lula (Lynn) Anderson of Weiser, ID.


Funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Kolob 2nd Ward LDS Chapel at 451 South Main in Springville. There will be a viewing held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville and at the church Monday one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wheelermortuary.com.

So sorry to read of Bishop Fox's passing. I have fond memories growing up in 2nd ward and of Bishop and Sister Fox singing at my wedding reception. May God bless you with peace knowing what we know about the hereafter.
