Marshall Lowe Obituary

ABINGDON – Marshall H. Lowe, age 82, a well-known resident of Abingdon, died Saturday, May 13, 2006, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1923, in the Alvarado community of Washington County, Va., the son of the late Phillip Ira Lowe and late Maude Bowman Lowe. He was a 1943 graduate of Bethel High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served aboard the USS Manning DE-199. He had worked for Parks Belk, Galloway Buick, West End Pharmacy, Abingdon Bus Station and Sperry, and retired from Raytheon after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Abingdon Masonic Lodge No. 48 AF&AM. and was a member of the Desert Sands Shrine Club. He was a member of the coffee clubs of both Chick-N-Little and Burger King of Abingdon and was a well-known resident of the Town of Abingdon for many years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, 11 months, (married June 23, 1956), Eileen Blevins Lowe of Abingdon; one son, James Walter Lowe and wife Donna R. Lowe of Richmond; two grandsons, Timothy Ryan Kennedy and Nicholas Troy Kennedy, both of Richmond and several cousins.
Funeral services for Marshall H. Lowe will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2006, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Burial will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Cossie Owsley, James Hay, Howard Carbary, Neal Reynolds, Buddy Thomas, Nicholas Troy Kennedy, Timothy Ryan Kennedy and Kenneth (Korky) Skeen. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends at Chic-N-Little and Burger King of Abingdon.
The family will receive friends at the Frost Funeral Home from 6-9 Sunday evening.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Cancer Outreach Foundation, 206 Abingdon Place, Abingdon, VA 24211.
