As December the 9th approaches the day that changed my life I miss you so much daddy. Not a day goes by You are not with me. Together forever and I hope I am making you proud. My best friend my rock my legend. Enjoy the horses my daddy, I´m taking great care of Mommy and soon enough we´ll all be together again until then may the legacy live on. Great guy! Always funny. A pleasure to be with. Used to make BBQ’s for the other residents. That was the first time I left New York. I remember thinking I’m going to get lost. We really miss him.

We did not know until today that Marty passed away. There is an emptiness in our hearts with his loss. A fine man, with good heart and a sense of humor. Many great memories.

Dr. Bertman--we never got to meet you, but I know you must have been an incredible person and father because Beverly is a wonderful person with a big smile and an even bigger heart. Dr. Bertman was a such sweet man. He loved his family so much and was such a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. All he ever wanted was the best for his family. He was always such a pleasure to work with and I will always remember him.

Dr. Bertman, you were more than just my friend's father, you were my friend. Coming over to your Golden Beach house for Beverly's get together's, or just nights before school, were some of my favorite, and always followed by early morning bagels and schmeer :) ... those moments, growing up, were some of the highlights from my childhood!! You taught me what it was like to be an excellent father and how to treat your family and the ones you loved with love and respect. You set great examples and it lives on with your daughters, especially with my dear friend Beverly and your wife Jewel. They embody all the things you believed in and will live the rest of their lives with your memory in spirit. I love you and you have impacted my life, in ways I hope you realize from above. Marty and I met as teenagers in New Jersey. Our parents formed a close friendship which brought us together. Our friendship continued when I found myself practicing medicine in the same Florida town of Hollywood. I miss him and cherish many fond memories that a long term friendship creates.

I actually only met Dr. Bertman once when he came to visit NYC with his wife and daughter. I have been good friends with Beverly for several years now and she is a wonderful person. I was saddened to hear that such a great pillar in Beverly's life had gone. But it gives me joy to know that Beverly had a fantastic and loving father growing up and that he contributed to her many amazing qualities.
Thank you for raising such an exquisite daughter Dr. Bertman, you will not be forgotten.

Dr. Bertman was not only my Doctor, but he was the best Doctor! He loved what he did and always had a smile on his face! He was a great person. I wish the Bertman family all my support during this very sad time. Unfortunately I met Dr. Bertman only once but in that short period in his presence while he was sick, his only concern was to have Beverly and I go out to have a nice dinner together. He was truly a selfless man and I wish I had the opportunity to have gotten to know him better.

Marty was my Doctor and soon became my friend. All my pregnancies were difficult, but Marty was always by my side, holding my hand when I came out of surgery, calling me to make sure I was all right even on weekends. His smile was contagious, his heart as big as all out doors. I cherish every memory of you. You will be missed not only by Jewel, your 5 daughters and family but by me, Rachel, David & Adam. Marty delivered me 31 years ago. My family was very close to the Bertman clan. I remember at a very young age I wanted to be a doctor, but not just any kind. I wanted to be an OB/GYN. When I told Marty this he not only embraced my desire but encouraged it (to some extreme methods). When I was about 12 or so, my mom said I had a phone call. It was Uncle Marty. He asked if I still wanted to be a doctor which I naturally said 'YES!" Next thing I know Uncle Marty pulled up in one of his many 'sweet' cars and told me to get in. I was going on rounds with him at Hollywood Memorial. The place I was delivered. He put me in a white lab coat and I was his shadow ALL DAY! That day I got to hold a uterus in my hands, and a few other items in from the pathology dept, but the thing that stands out most in my mind about that day I spent with Marty was that he never stopped smiling. His contagious smile could make anyone feel good and light up the room. I'll never forget his smile, his warm spirit and his zest for life. You will be missed 'Uncle' Marty. Peace be with you. My sincerest condolences to Jewel, Bev and girls.
