Marva Newnham Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 8, 2025.
It is with much sadness that we share the loss of our dear sister Marva on April 1, 2025. Marva Dawn Newnham was born May 6, 1964 in Fallon, NV to Chester M. Newnham and Lou Dawn (Neeley) Newnham.

Marva grew up in Fallon and graduated from Churchill County High school in 1982. After graduation, she attended Stephens Henager College of Business in Provo, UT graduating in 1984 with an Associates in Accounting. After college, Marva moved to Reno and started her career with Edna Skin Care Essentials. Several years later, she started a new job with Ralston Foods and remained there for 25 years until a company buyout and downsizing. She then took a position with Franklin Energy Services working remotely for the last 5 years.

Marva was the youngest of 6 children. She was the most devoted sister, aunt, great aunt and friend. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, and was always the first to lend a hand. She was a humanitarian and loved animals, especially cats. Marva donated time and money to the Humane Society, Animal Ark and Make A Wish Foundation. Over the years she had many cats. They were her "kids." She enjoyed lunches and get-togethers with Ralston friends who continued to meet throughout the years.

Marva was well traveled. She visited most of the states in the US; most recently Oregon, and New York City with her sister Lynn. She traveled to Ireland, Denmark, Scandinavian cruise, and she went on an Alaskan cruise with all her sisters as a tribute to their parents.

She was proceeded in death by her brother Charles Newnham, father and mother. She is survived by her sisters, Christina Highland (Rick), Diana Schefcik (Larry), Sheryl Fairchild, DeLynn Cone (Tom). She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Tina, Brian, Sean, Sonja, Marci, Veronica, Jennifer, Rachel, & Heidi and her "kids" Oliver and Lucy.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Reno Humane Society.

My heart and prayers go out to Marva's family. Marva and I worked together for about 10 years at Ralston in the Accounting Department. The Accounting Team enjoyed many lunches over the years even after several of us had left the company. During the holidays, my memories fondly go back to us visiting with our adoptive seniors. Marva was a good friend and a kind soul, she will greatly be missed.

I´m so sad to hear of her passing. We were college roommates many years ago. Marva had a good heart and I really respected her studious attitude. Farewell dear friend.

I´m so sorry to hear this news. Marva and I had such a fun time together in junior high and high school. Rest in peace my friend.
