Mary Ann (Dupuis) Koenig Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 23, 2025.
Mary Ann Koenig peacefully passed away on April 3, 2025, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 23, 1939, to the late Arthur and Lucienne Dupuis in Salem, Massachusetts. Mary Ann was a strong, single, and loving mother to her five children: Susan Howard, Christine Shannon, Mark Pelletier, Paul Pelletier, and Karen Murphy. She was also a beloved Memere to her 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, whom she adored.

At home, Mary Ann found joy in reading, tending to her plants, and cooking, especially when it involved feeding others! She loved to travel, explore, and preserve family memories through photo albums and storytelling. Known for her strength and generosity, she was always ready to help those in need, whether people, plants, or animals, and asked for little in return. She instilled in her children the values of gratitude, appreciation for the environment, kindness to animals and those around them, and, most importantly, love and care for one another. She loved to laugh, and her sense of humor shone through as she reminded her family to "have a little fun" or playfully warned, "Be good! Or at least don't get caught!" Her resilience inspired those around her to persevere when the going got tough.

Mary Ann is survived by her sisters, Janet MacDonald and Pauline Dupuis, and her brother, Arthur Dupuis. She was predeceased by her sister, Anita (Dolly) Page.

Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 3, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church in Peabody, Massachusetts. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Salem.
