CRYSTAL LAKE - Mary Sylvia Filas, 82, of Crystal Lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Crystal Lake.
She was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Chicago, to Paul "Bob" and Agatha (Dombrowski) Daniel. On July 13, 1946, she married Leon R. Filas in Chicago.
She was a teletype operator for the federal government during World War II and was a lifelong member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years; three children, Wayne (Karen) Filas of Johnsburg, Glen Filas of Crystal Lake and Leon Filas of Crystal Lake; three grandchildren, Daniel Filas of Florida, Kevin Filas of Johnsburg and Maryann Filas of Lindenhurst; a sister, Annie (Bob) Kneesel of Arlington Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Helen and Jane Daniel.
The visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at Querhammer & amp; Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
