MARY ANN JOHNSON
McALLEN - Mary Ann Johnson passed away December 28, 2008, at her home in McAllen, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Ann was born December 16, 1940 to Frances and I.W. Lackey. She attended schools in McAllen and graduated from McAllen High School in 1958. She attended The University of Texas in Austin, Southwest University and the University of Colorado.
She married Bill Johnson in 1967 and helped him in the management of Bill Johnson Construction in San Antonio and McAllen. She was employed by Waugh's Nursery and she worked for Planned Parenthood. She and her son Todd were also in the construction business. She was active in many civic organizations, including The Symphony Guild and the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, I.W. Lackey and her beloved son, Carter Lackey Johnson.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Frances Lackey; her devoted husband, Bill Johnson; her loving son, Todd Ingram Johnson; her sister, Pam Lackey Buss and husband Jim, all of McAllen. She is also survived by several nieces & a nephew, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 30 at Valley Memorial Gardens, N. Taylor Rd. McAllen. Ray Kiser, Sr. Pastor, First United Methodist Church, McAllen will officiate. Services are under the direction of Kreidler Funeral Home, McAllen.
