Mary Lopez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 16, 2015.
Mary Castro Lopez passed away peacefully on November 14, 2015 after her courageous battle with cancer. Mary departed to continue her journey with her husband, Salvador, who preceded her in death. They were married for 40 years. Mary always remained strong and fought hard, never complaining, during her three year battle with cancer.
She was born in Pomona, California on January 19, 1931 to Secundino Castro and Carmen Del Valle. She moved to San Jose in 1944 and lived with her mother until she found the love of her life. She met Salvador Lopez R. while sorting fruit at a pear orchard, and the two were married on February 5, 1949. They were blessed with 6 children: Yolanda Leanos (Raul), Silvia Lujan (Tony), Leticia Lopez-Reynoso (Luis), Laura Parra (Chano-Deceased), Salvador Jr., and Gerardo Lopez (Selena). She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She retired from Teledyne the mid-90's and enjoyed her retirement. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and the newest loves of her life, her great-grandchildren. She was diagnosed in August of 2012 with stage IV cancer and fought her battle strong. She was so strong, she amazed doctors and nurses with how much she fought and carried on. She never gave up and remained strong in her fighting spirit until the end. She always offered a smile and welcomed everyone into her life. Now she is in heaven with the love of her life. We love you Mom!

Grandma (GG) your love was the greatest love I have ever felt. And I will spend the rest of my life giving all my love to my children and it will only be a fraction of the love you were capable of. Thank you for loving Jason since day one and all of our babies that came. We are so blessed that they were able to meet you and grow with you. Our family will never be the same but you gave us a strong foundation and will always try to maintain that. We love love love you and are happy you are finally reunited with Grandpa. I can see you two dancing away. Love you to the moon and back, Yolie, Jason Sr., Jason Jr., Sienna, Crash & Boss

Grandma, I love you and miss you more than I can every say. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Thank you for everything you have done for all of us. The foundation you built with this family is strong and we will do our best to keep up with the traditions. You truly taught me the meaning of unconditional love. Forever you will be with me and in my heart.
xoxo

Mom, It was an honor taking care of you the past 3 years & 4 months I remember you asked me once why are you so nice to me and taking me to all your appointments its too much trouble, & I replied because you did it for me after my accident and I need to do it for you after all its what a daughter should do... as the days got closer I remember you telling me to hold your hand through your pain and you gave me that smile you gave everyone when they came, I am so glad you were able to meet Mateo & Mason as they loved their GG (great grandma) you always said they are so beautiful and it made me fill so happy. I will miss you more than you will ever know I love you mom today tomorrow and always... tu hija Lety

So sorry to hear about your mom. I have so many memories of her and your dad(my nino). I will not be able to attend the services, I had recent surgery on my foot and I can't get around too well.

I am sorry to hear about Mary. Having Mary and Sal as part of the Castro family meant alot to us. It was good seeing the pictures, remembering those times, remembering Mary and Sal as they used to look, and sorry I lost touch and contact with the family. My sincere condolences to the entire family.

Dear Lopez family, your parents were good friends of my parents, Felipe & Loreto Bravo for many years. I believe our dads worked together somewhere, not sure where. As a very young girl I remember they used to come over to visit and would sit around the kitchen table and talk and laugh all night long. I would see your more occasionally at Save-Mart in more recent times and enjoyed talking with her. As our mom said to us before she passed, it's up to you girls to keep the family together. God bless you and may the memory of your parents comfort you.
