Mary Chiocco Nehme

Mary Chiocco Nehme, Scranton, died Sunday morning at home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John J. Nehme, who died Oct. 6, 2005.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Neil and Immaculata Coliani Chiocco, she was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Before her retirement, she was employed by Acme Markets. She was a past member of St. Ann's Maronite Church and it's Our Lady Queen of Peace Sodality.

Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time surrounded by family and enjoyed cooking and baking for them. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Marino and husband, Bob, Clarks Summit; and attorney Marianne Stivala and husband, Martin, Scranton; two sons, John J. Nehme and wife, JoAnn, Kingston, N.Y.; and Leonard J. Nehme, Scranton, with whom she resided; five grandchildren, Mitchell J. Marino, M.J. and Pia Mary Stivala, Nicole Sweetser and Michelle Moore; her beloved pet dog, Dixie; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Andrew Chiocco.

The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Oram Street, West Scranton.

Friends may call Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carl J. Savino, Jr. Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton.

Those attending the funeral Wednesday morning are asked to go directly to church.
