I met Mary at the warm water pool at Longmont United Hospital. We had many classes there together until they shut down the pool (this was a few years before Covid). She was such a joy to be around! She was almost exactly my Mother´s age (born July 1931). She had joy in her spirit, spunk in her bones, and it was always was a sheer pleasure to be in her presence. I´m happy that you all got to have her as your Mother. You were blessed indeed.

Well, where can you start and where can you end when you talk about my mom Mary. She was a strong and generous woman who spent 64 years with her husband and partner in life, Mavor. In addition to raising three spirited and willful boys along with helping raise her niece, she was an earlier riser on the farm, raising calves, chickens, pigs and other farm animals. Up early for feeding, then out in the fields planting or harvesting crops with Dad. We always had lots of animals around including horses that we "wintered over".
We (Brock, Mimi and Cameron) moved to Longmont in 2002 so that Cameron could grow up near his grandparents. I remember how much mom enjoyed reading Harry Potter books to Cameron and with Cameron as he got older. She was a talented quilter and spent countless hours creating quilts for family and friends.
She and Dad loved the staff and animals at the Wild Animal Sancuary in Keenesberg, CO. She loved to visit there whenever she could.
When Dad retired, mom found great joy in getting out of the house and working. She worked a number of different jobs; assembler at StorageTec; stocker at a department store; seamstress at a parka manufacturer, etc. She also started volunteering at the Longs Peak Hospital. As Dad aged and became less confident in his surroundings, mom sacrificed her mornings at the Longs Peak Hospital swimming pool, as well as her volunteer service.
She spent several years at Alta Vita Assisted Living in Longmont, where her spirit was enjoyed by both staff and fellow residents. The picture below is one of me and mom at the bocce ball courts at Alta Vita.
Mom was loving, generous, FIESTY and had an indomitable spirit. We will all miss her.
Love you and miss you Mom.

We took mom to South Dakota a few times. We took her through Custer on one trip, up the Iron Mountain Rd. Through the tunnels there, she was amazed at the views of Mount Rushmore and the scenery. Got to the house, and even after a 7 hour drive up, we jumped in the rzr and did the hour loop into the forest property behind the home. she laughed as i plowed through mud puddles and the river beds as we raced through the woods. Back at the house, she would sit for hours just watching the birds on the deck, and the deer at the deer feeder behind our home. These were good trips, that day was the best. Hearing her laugh as we went even over the engine noise. I never do selfies, but glad we stopped at this clearing and did one.
