Matias Sanchez, 87, of Clyde, Ohio, formerly of Martin, Ohio, died Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2013, at Arbors of Clyde. He was born February 24, 1926, in Laredo, Texas, to Eulojio and Fransica (Salano) Sanchez. On August 13, 1960, in Genoa, Ohio, he married Rosita Pardo, who preceded him in death May 23, 2001. Matias worked for 24 years as a machine operator for Stokely-VanCamp, Inc. and then for 13 years for Hunt-Wesson Foods, Inc., retiring in 1992. He had been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa and a past member of the Guadalupe Society. Matias enjoyed listening to Spanish music and was a Cincinnati Reds fan, but his most loved pastime was spending time with his grandchildren. Matias is survived by his children: Manuel Sanchez, Matias (Tammy) Sanchez, Jr. and David Sanchez, Maria (Fred) Vance, Mari (Jack) Adams, Magdalena Sanchez and Rosemary Sanchez; 20 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and sister, Petra Garcia. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rosita, brother, Tivursio Sanchez, and sisters, Esperanza Sanchez and Guadalupe Sanchez. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2013, at the funeral home with interment to follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, Genoa Rd., Perrysburg, Ohio. Memorials for Matias may be directed to the family.
