Matthew Dean Briggs

Matthew Dean Briggs, passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 45 in Lexington, KY. Matthew is survived by his mother, Beatrice Carmody Ellett, and his stepfather, Samuel Ellett, Sr. He is also survived by his sisters, Allison Briggs and her daughter Samantha MacDougall, and Jacqueline Ellett LaRosa (Leanne LaRosa); as well as his brother Sam Ellett, Jr. (Paulina Leech). Matthew was also cherished by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Briggs, Jr., his grandfather, Gilbert Briggs, Sr. and his grandmother, Jean Briggs. He was also preceded in death by his grandfather James Carmody and his grandmother Ann Carmody.

Matthew had a successful career in the printing industry while with Quad Graphics and Quebecor World Premedia, both located in Versailles, KY. Through these experiences, he made life-long friends.

Matthew graduated from North Andover High School in North Andover, MA. Matthew attended Middlesex Community College in Lowell, MA where he received his Associates Degree. He also attended the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, MA where he joined the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity.

Matthew worshipped at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. Matthew enjoyed music, reading, writing poetry, the outdoors, and spending time with his friends and family.

Matthew did all that he could to help those with whom he came in contact and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Burial services will be private.
