It's obviously taken me a very long time. Seeing, reading the real feelings of Matt's friends in Dubai is a very real consolation to me as a mom. I was so, so afraid he was alone. Thank you every friend that it was not so. Your words really do mean alot. I haven't looked at these words of feeling until now. I appologize. You all deserved more for your sharing & I feel remiss. I'm still trying to work & live through this all. I am so, so happy to see that My Mattie had so many caring people around him in Dubai. You all, like I wish we could have changed his perception of himself. Please support any & all suicide prevention outreach you can in your future. Do this to honor the young man that was my Matt please.

I have just heard of your sad loss and my thoughts are with you.
I only knew Matt briefly when we met playing Ultimate Frisbee. He was always fun to have around and a great team player. He said goodbye to Team DFL at the end of last season due to a busy work schedule and as an original member, we were sad to see him go, but always tried to keep him updated with the scores!
We will continue to play in his memory.

Jeffery, Charmaine, and Tiffany,
It is with great sadness that I send my deepest condolences to you and the entire Proudfoot family.
I only knew Matt for a short time while living in Dubai, but his impression on me was strong. I recall being particularly impressed by the way his kind, polite nature complimented his competitive fire on the ultimate field. Kind competition..... it is no surprise to find that he was a Canadian hockey player.
It was really such a pleasure to have known him, even for just a short time.
Please know that Matthew impressed friends and acquaintances alike, and that he will be missed greatly and remembered fondly.
My best to you,
Derv Rao

Matt and I met in Dubai with our organization organizing sports. He was a constantly cheery guy and we had some great times here in Dubai playing frisbee and football. We instantly connected both being Canadian and our love for sport. For friends and family in Canada know that he had many good friends here in the desert.

Although I did not know Matt very well. I had only met him a few times, playing on the same hockey team as him.
He definitely left an impression.

To the proudfoot family I am so sorry to hear the news about Matt and my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Matt was the first person I met at CBRE when I moved to Abu Dhabi and I will never forget the knowledge he gave me about Ice Hockey, especially the "Edmonton Oilers" during are nights out at the local tavern!

Your sudden death has indeed broken my heart, I always thought that someday will both meet and go out to enjoy life as we used to do whenever we had the chance. I am sad to know that I do not have this anymore, but I really hope that you are now in a better place watching and keeping an eye on us. I really wish that I can do something about it, however I promise you that I will always pray for you and your family my good friend.

My wife Kira and I sincerely spread our deepest condolences to you and your family for such a loss. Matt was a very good friend of mine in Calgary. We met through Altus and played hockey often together whether in the arenas or on the outdoor rink by his house. I always respected him and was impressed by his stature and character, God bless him and give him peace.

Jeff and Charmaine,
I'm so sorry to hear of Matthew's sudden passing and my heart and thoughts go out to you at this very, very sad time. I remember visiting with you when Matthew was born and he wasn't even home from the hospital. Little Tiffany was running around your house with Judy and Colin looking after her. I remember that visit with fondness. Thank you for welcoming me into your home at that time.
I'm thinking of you and wish I could be with you and your family to share my condolences.
Love Jane Smith (Colleen's friend).
