MATTHEW ZAPATA Obituary
He is survived by his parents; grandparents, who raised him, Joe and Mary Chapa of Victoria; sister, Maryjo Chapa of Victoria; and uncles, Joe and wife Liz Chapa of Victoria and Gary and wife Sandy Chapa of Rosenberg.
He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Jerry and Stella Chapa; and maternal great-grandparents, Louis and Rosa Valenzuela.
Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Artero Memorial Chapels. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at Artero Memorial Chapels.
Visitation will resume at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, at Artero Memorial Chapels. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Sean Chapa, Brandon Hernandez, Brent Hernandez, Jimmie Perez Jr., Rudy Osegueda, and Emmanuel Flores.
Honorary pallbearers: Corey Gossett, Lucas Chapa, and Ethan Chapa.
Floral committee: Kelsie, Jordan and Lilly Chapa.
Under the direction of Artero Memorial Chapels, Victoria, 361-575-3212.

I herd of Mathew through my daughter Amanda who lives in Victoria I remember Mathew coming to the house hanging with my boys Steven and Andrew Salazar. I cant tell you how much my heart aches at such a loss even more when I had to tell my son Steven his best friend past away The tears in his eyes I broke down and cried. All he talked about was his friend Mathew and when he would see him again. Now will see visit him at the cemetery. We will Greatly miss you Mathew your smile your laughter and your voice. You were a great friend to my sons who I'm glad I got to know. We live in North Dakota now but we will be there soon to visit you again. You will be missed.

Matt...there isn't anything i can say to bring you back and I hate it. You we're a great friend to me and I love you very much! You we're there for me whenever I needed someone to lean on, and every time I close my eyes I can see your face and that beautiful smile of yours then the tears start falling. I wish I could see you and hold you one last time. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I hate that we lost touch over the past couple of years, but when we did see each other it was like we saw each other the week before. You and your friendship meant so much to me...I just can't believe your gone baby. I think of you and the memories come rushing!! My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I just know your up there watching over us helping us overcome every obstacle life throws us. I love you and miss you and I'll never forget you...sleep with the angels now baby boy. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;

Matt.. There arent enough words to say how much and what u meant to all of us. I know u will always be with us and looking over us. You're Manuel's best friend and were with us practically everyday. His nickname for u, Mateo, stuck with u and thats what u wld always introduce urself as lol. We will forever cherish ALL the MANY happy memories we shared together. Life of the party, always laughin and bein goofy. U always had that smile on ur face and always made the best of every situation. An amazing person with the biggest heart.
