Mon beau Matthieu. One year ago. That morning, I held you tight in my arms and kissed you for the last time. You smiled. We were so happy. I promise to try to remember those last moments and smile, but when I think of our last morning together, I cry because how is it possible to be so incredibly happy one moment and have that all taken away so tragically.. That weekend, you said to me that you were the happiest you had ever been in your life, I find comfort in that, knowing that your last moments were probably of happy thoughts. I went to the cross this morning. I stood there and cried and cried. At 8:49am, the couple whose car was just in front of you in the accident came to see you. You know, they held your hand that morning until the ambulance came. They knew though. But they held your hand the whole time. I feel comfort in that.
I loved you so much babe and I miss you terribly. I carry a precious little angel in your memory, and I wear your Harley ring and think of you everytime I look at it.
You will always be in my heart.

One year has gone by since you were so tragically taken from our lives. Every member of our famly has grieved deeply, each in their own way. It hasn't been easy but we all you know you are watching over all of us.
I've said this before, but I'm repeating it again...we are ALL better people for having known you and for having you in our lives.
I miss you terribly...every day brings back some wonderful memory of you.

Hello, my wonderful nephew, the world knew you as Matt. You were such a beautiful person in and out. I miss you so very much, I have cried a river and then still, I’ve cried and cried.
It’s tragic you left so early but may be heaven had another plan. I’ve heard they need good people up there and I know, there will never be a finer man.
You were loved by your family and friends and you made our world a better place. We’ll look after your memory. Every day we’ll hold you close to our heart because you are still very much a part of us and it’s such a loving, happy and wonderful part.
So Matt, keep riding your Harley, that’s exactly how you went to heaven. Whenever I hear a Harley, I think of you and your love of riding.

I did not know Mathieu, but every morning I see a sobbing lady standing on the side of Lucerne where the acciddent had happened.
This is when I started to do a research to find out exactly what hapeppened. I was shocked to find out how Mathieu lost his life by a senseless and selfish act by someone who thought he is above the law. My deepest sympathies to Mathieu's family.
I did not have the courage to stop and share your grief when I see in the morning, but believe me I think about you everyday.
I hope you'll soon find peace and justice.

I did not know Matthieu although I work at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and have heard many good things about your son. This is a more personal note to the parents of Matthieu, I also lost my 16 years old son, it will be 2 years next month, and I wanted to express my sincere condolences at your loss. Words cannot express the loss of our colleague. Matthieu joined our group in August 2005. He was a model employee - dedicated, conscientious, and always willing to help others. On Monday morning when Matthieu did not arrive at work, we knew something had to be wrong. It was so unlike him not to call. We will all miss him terribly. Matthieu and I worked together at Public Safety Canada. Matt was a great colleague, smart, funny, and would go the extra mile to help if he could. We became good friends and allies in the work place and I would often interrupt his reading in the lunch room so we could catch up on life. Mes sympathies a Marc et la famille Groulx. Last time I saw Matt was quite a few years ago in passing by coincidence actually. When I saw him, I instantly recognized his wide grin! We shook hands and spoke for a few minutes, catching up. It was a quick moment in time between two guys who knew each other in school. It was funny because he called me Pete Maxx! (Remember that?) Anyways, when things like this happen, it puts it all in perspective. We may grow appart and lead seperate lives, but we always have the memories.
