Maureen Sharon LaPointe Springfield It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Sharon LaPointe, 73, of Phoenix, Arizona on January 31, 2023. Maureen was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Marie and Bernard LaPointe. She graduated from Technical High School in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1967. Maureen moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1968 where she resided until her death, however she often visited her hometown of Springfield. She was a dispatcher for the Phoenix Police Department for twenty-nine years and the President of her union for ten years. She dedicated her life to volunteer work for various community service programs. She most enjoyed her volunteer work at the Red Cross. She remained active throughout her life and loved playing baseball and bowling. She was a dedicated Red Sox fan. Traveling was a priority to Maureen, and she was known to travel the country in her prized Mustang convertible. Maureen was predeceased by her parents and brothers Forrest Dale LaPointe and Arnold James LaPointe. She is survived by her brother Galen Paul LaPointe, nieces, nephews and many friends. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church located at 417 Boston Road, Springfield, MA on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 10am. Burial of her ashes will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery located at 895 Parker Street, Springfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local Humane Society, an organization Maureen felt strongly about.
