POWER MEANEY, Maureen Ellen 1965 - 2017 Passed away peacefully, and surrounded by family, on October 10 after a brief illness, Maureen Ellen Power Meaney. Beloved wife of Kenneth Meaney and loving mother of Caitlan (Kyle) and Rhian. Cherished daughter of Catherine Power, predeceased by her father, Cecil. Dear sister of Kevin (Valerie), Trina (Brian) and Teresa (Stephen). Daughter-in-law of Margaret Meaney, predeceased by her father-in-law Gordon. Will be sadly missed by her large extended family and many friends. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18 at Mary Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, St John's, Newfoundland. Private family burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A lover of all things sparkly, fuzzy or furry Maureen was a compassionate woman, tireless worker, and great friend who was known for her large shoe collection and off beat sense of humour. Besides her family and friends her other great love was for her cats. Because of this, memorial donations may be made to Heavenly Creatures, a haven for animals in St John's, Newfoundland or the charity of your choice. My sincere condolences and sympathies to Maureen's family, extended family and friends. I had the luck to work with Maureen for a brief time. She was brilliant, funny, driven - she was a star that shone. Her shoe collection was legendary as was her tattoo. My life is richer for knowing her and I'll always think of her with love.
