Max South, 36, Florence, Ala., died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at his residence.The funeral will be Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel, Athens, with David McKelvey officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30-9 p.m. today at Coffee High School gym.He attended First Baptist Church in Killen, was a 1984 graduate of Athens High School and a 1988 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, and received his masters degree at UNA.He was a teacher and head basketball coach at Coffee High School.He is survived by his wife, Dorinda Gober South, Florence; parents, Buddy and Jayne South, Athens; brother, John South and wife, Dawn, Athens; sister, Bellamy South Looney and husband, Jeff, Vestavia Hills, Ala.; niece, Mary Jayne Looney; nephew, Van Looney; uncle, Kenneth Lewter, Athens; aunts, Geneva Ray, Florence, and Brenda Cates, Rogersville.Pallbearers will be Sonny Glasgow, Donnie Roberts, Daryl Gober, Derek Gober, Tony Cox, Mike Lewey, Charles Woodroff and Kevin Robinson.Honorary pallbearers will be the Coffee High School basketball team.Memorials may be made to the Max South Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Coffee High School, 648 N.
