Melissa Darlene "Sissy" Pope age 45 of Asheville, passed away June 18, 2012 at Mission Hospital. She was born in Haywood County to Linda Thomason Sorrells and the late Buddy Thomas Sorrells. Sissy was a 1986 graduate of Pisgah High School. She was an award winning hairstylist before she began to enjoy time traveling, and was known to be fun loving and caring. In addition to her mother Linda Sorrells of Hickory Grove SC, she is survived by her boyfriend Tim Bingham of Asheville; his mother Patricia Harper and her significant other Walt of Gastonia; son Isaiah McRoberts of Coatesville PA; daughter Briana Pope of Asheville; brother Tommy Sorrells and his significant other Jane Reece of Canton; sisters Mary Brown and her husband Stephen of Hickory Grove SC, Katherine Lenior of Raleigh; nieces and nephews Stephen Lenior and his wife Barbara, Crystal Austin, Joshua Sorrells, David Brown and his wife Rachel, Melissa Byrum and her husband Spanky, Paulann Brown, Kailee Byrum, Daphne Byrum, Braden Byrum, Jeremy Reece and his wife Kandace, Kaylee Reece, Evan Reece, many other family members and friends; and her very special cat "Prince". A memorial service will be held at her mother's house in Hickory Grove on Satruday June 23, 2012 at 4PM. The family would like to thank Dawn, Lynn and their co-workers for many years of friendship and faithful service. Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to the ASPCA.
