Meredith Allen Pierce, 72, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014, after a brief illness. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-7pm and Sunday at 1pm until the 2pm service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS. Burial will follow at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Florence, MS.
Mr. Pierce was a 1960 graduate of Florence High School. He attended Mississippi State University and earned his degree in 1966. Meredith served his country and was a veteran in the Army National Guard. He was a faithful member at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He retired after 30 years from the USDA-rural development (formerly farmers home administration) and later retired from MDOT after 17 years of service in the right-of-way division.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Casper Pierce and nephew, Wayne Pierce.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brenda Pierce; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Thomas Breaux of Florence, MS; grandson, Corbin Breaux; granddaughter, Avery Breaux; brothers, Maurice (Lucy) Pierce of Hazlehurst, MS and Michael (Kathy) Pierce of Tomball, TX; sister, Patricia (Lamar) Weems of Brandon, MS; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karla and Arthur Lewis of Gulfport, MS; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, The American Cancer Society, or CARA.

Brenda, I am very saddened to learn of Meredith's demise. He and I were room mates in college and long time friends. Walk in peace with God for Meredith continues to walk along with you holding God's other hand.

Meredith and I grew up together and is a special friend of mine. I shall never forget the fun we had and all our pranks we pulled..The days ahead will be hard on his family. Look to God and he will get you through this. RIP my brother/friend
