After dealing with years of ill health, Mike died suddenly on October 26, 2016, at the age of 58. Mike was a lifelong resident of Mt. Lebanon. A graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves, where he served proudly and retired after 20 years. Mike was also a professional chef, working in a variety of positions throughout his career, from local restaurants to institutional hospital cooking. He received awards within the Army and also for his work as a hospital chef. He was especially proud of his commendation for his work with the Designed Dining Program, where he helped create a program of shaping and designing soft food into palatable shapes and tastes for food-challenged patients. When his health allowed, he loved to play golf, bowl duckpins, play cards, play and watch baseball and football (go Steelers!). Recent favorite pastimes were to watch old army movies and westerns on TV with his Dad. Mike loved his dogs and they loved him, especially his beloved Melba. Mike was predeceased by his mother, Marylynn Basuino Bushey; and his sister, Claudia Bushey King. He is survived by his father and pal, Harold T. Bushey; his sister, Kathleen Prentiss (Michael); his brother, Tom Bushey (Donna); and dozens of nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss Uncle Mike as part of our close-knit, crazy family. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Pat Renihan, and her devoted family, all of whom were Mike's best friends over the years and who will miss his many Mike-isms. Friends welcome at 2630 West Liberty Avenue, Dormont, (412-531-4000) Sunday, October 30, 2016, 3-7 p.m. where funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. followed by interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
