Michael Robert "Mike" Coogan

Mike Coogan, 72, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on January 27, 2024. He was born on August 31, 1951 in Phoenix, AZ to Loretta Schmink and Robert (Bob) Coogan.

Mike had a diverse career, starting as a truck driver in Roadforks, NM, working along side his father. He later moved to Lordsburg, NM where he became a paramedic, firefighter, and medical investigator. After serving the community he loved for almost 20 years, he retired and moved back to Phoenix. Mike rekindled a friendship with a beautiful girl he dated 30 years prior and on June 13, 1997 married the love of his life Georgi. Along with his daughter, Michele, he gained her two wonderful daughters. Georgi was an amazing wife and a tender and loving caregiver to Mike to the very end.

Outside of work, Mike had a passion for camping, fishing, hunting, and racing. His daughter, Michele, fondly remembers him as a "Mr. Fix It" and the best show and tell partner. He would bring her scorpions from fishing trips to Mexico and rattles from snakes he killed to scare anyone she could. He even surprised her classmates by arriving at school in an ambulance with "Recessive Annie" buckled up front, complete with lights and sirens. He was a true friend and always ready to lend a hand.

Mike is survived by his wife Georgi Coogan, three daughters - Michele (John) Coogan Levie, Danel (Joe) Garcia, Sandra Decker, and seven grandchildren - Gavin, Kali Jo, Desiree, Denise, Joseph, Courtney and Bree. He also has four loving siblings John (Toni) Coogan, Dutch (Wade) Carpenter, Sherry (Terry) Farris, Jody (Donny) Hall, stepfather Will Schmink, stepmother Jane Coogan, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loretta Schmink and Robert Coogan, and brother-in-law Wade Carpenter.

Mike Coogan will be deeply missed by his family and friends. May his memory live on in their hearts.
