DEWAN, Michael Richard Passed away peacefully on April 18, 2018 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jo Anne Dewan (Dickie); father to Mark of Stratford, Lori Evans (Nigel) of London, Steven (Karie) of Oakland, California and Jennifer (Jean-Paul) of Richmond Hill, and last but not least, his treasured dog Spotty. Grandpa will be missed by grandchildren Lauren, Jack and Abby Evans, Nathan and Alex Dewan, and Kyla and Nolan Morson. He is the beloved brother of Denise Resnick (Kirk), Terry Dewan (Deborah) and Sharon Dewan, as well as brother-in-law to Ted Dickie (Carolyn) and Tom Dickie. He was predeceased by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Julia and Hugh Toohey, his mother Gwendolyn Resnick and step-father Lew Resnick, and his father William Dewan. Michael was a teacher and then principal with the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board for 30 years. He was happiest at the family cottage on Lake Muskoka, ""swimming, sailing and sunbathing"". He had a love of music. Michael loved spending time with his grandchildren and travelling since his retirement. Visitation took place at the W.G. Young Funeral Home , 430 Huron St., Stratford on Sunday, April 22 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass was held on Monday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 96 Huron St, Stratford. Reception was held in the Parish Hall.
