I want Michael to be remembered for his unconditional love for others, for his never giving up - no matter what, for treating people well, for his tremendous work ethic and for him being very forgiving and righteous! One thing about Michael, that I can't seem to shake, is his unconditional love for others. I think Michael is gone sometimes but I am starting to realize, he is here with me, closer than he has ever been! Miss you, , my bro, much love always.

All I can keep thinking is how innocent kids are. Dylan telling me things will be ok and that at least Michael isn't in a hospital suffering and he went to heaven. Sweet. So very true. Sure happy Michael came camping with us! Such a stud with all the females!

One thing I know, I have never seen my dad cry and he broke down hard with the picture of him holding Michael.

Michael, It was a shock to hear what happened to you. We weren't close in high school but I remember you always wearing a smile. I'll look back at our brief 'relationship' from 7th grade with laughter. Peace and love to you and your family.

Hoglund - Your attitude, strength and smile were infectious. You are gone too soon man. You will be missed. I will always remember how hard you played in all sports and how you never liked playing against me in basketball because you were shorter but you made up for it with hustle.

I met Michael at Warren Tech in the Med Prep program. A class with very few boys and a boat load of girls! He held his own with all of us and was kind and helpful to all! Like most when I hear his name the first thing that pops in my head is his smile! He obviously had a need to care for others that's says a lot about him as a person! I'm saddened that the world lost his beautiful soul! My thoughts and prayers are with his Mom and family! May his memory live on through all that knew him!

Little Michael! You will be missed so very, very much. A few years ago, Michael would ride to work with me at 6:15 ish in the morning. He would catch the light rail from my office to his work. Every time we were in the car, the song "Cooler than Me" by Mike Posner would come on. He would sign his heart out and we would laugh and talk about life early in the a.m. Just the two of us in my car. It was awesome! So all of you Michael friends and family, sing your heart out! I downloaded the song to my phone just so I can listen to it and see Michael smiling, singing and dancing in his seat!
Michael was a super hard worker!
Our family, David, Addi, Ian and I will miss you so much!
Hugs and Smiles!

After I heard the news I kept scrolling through my brain remembering all the times he was over at our house playing with my brother Matt. I was hoping to think of specific stories but struggled. Even so I knew that smile was contagious, he always had fun no matter what and we loved him like a brother. After the service, Matthew and I got a chance to talk by ourselves and what do you know more memories started to come back, those boys playing baseball together. Sometimes he would make faces when he was up to bat. There's just such a clear picture of it in my mind. I remember Michael zooming around those bases he was so fast which was also proven when I would chase him out of my room when he and my brother would try to bug me. I could never catch him. I remember the seasons they played basketball together I watched all their games they worked so hard and they were good too. It was incredible to hear my brother share all the things they did and his specific memories of their adventures. Like the Summer he helped Michael work with disabled kids at Sports Camp, the year they went undefeated in baseball, and a basketball play where Matthew throws the ball to Michael just before it goes out of bounds falls on the floor and hits the wall and Michael puts it up for 2, to name a few. Special stuff we hold close. We will keep him in our hearts & memories always! Prayers & Love to everyone.

I meet Michael thru my brother, Kyle. He quickly became a regular at our house and more like a little brother over the years. He was always kind, polite, respectful, and caring of everyone around him. I remember shortly after my oldest was born i stopped by my moms one afternoon and no one was there but Michael. We spent a few hours talking about lifes ups and downs and i rememeber him telling me how great of a mom i was going to be and "you got this and you will be great at. Tav is lucky to have you as his mom, just like my sister - she's gonna be a great mom too. I can't wait until i can meet my nephew". He was beaming and smiling ear to ear with that grin of his. He always had a postive outlook on life, even during hard times. I am so thankful for his prescence in my life, so thankful for our friendship and especailly thankful for his love. I love you, Michael and you will always be in my heart.

My favorite memory of Michael is one from when he was maybe 4. We were in North Dakota visiting Grandma Bertie. Michael was messing around on Grandma's recliner, and he tumbled off of it. We all paused, looked at him, and waited for him to start screaming and crying, but without missing a beat, he put his arms up and exclaimed "Tada!"
This was only a single example of many he had in his life, where others were expecting some negative result from something happening to him, but over and over, he would surprise with his positive attitude, and infectious smile. He cared so deeply for others and worked so hard to get to where he was before tragedy ripped him away from this world. This world will have a void eternally with the loss of my brother.
His vessel may be inanimate, but it was a confined space for such a big soul. Now, he has the freedom to expand that beautiful heart and reach every single one of us at the same time.
I love you Michael, may your eternal life be more beautiful than anything you've ever experienced! I am glad Aiden has his goofy, fun loving Uncle to play with now, surely nobody up there currently could be more fun ;)
