MICHAEL LOTITO Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 3, 2018.
LOTITO--Michael, 57, died surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 1st after a prolonged battle with lymphoma. Born in Fort Lee, NJ to Dominick and Marjorie Lotito, Michael was a graduate of Fort Lee High School and the "nearly Ivy League" Rutgers University. Mike was a wunderkind of the media advertising industry as soon as he entered it over 30 years ago. He held a variety of positions at companies McCann Erickson and Benton & Bowles before becoming at executive at Ammirati Puris Lintas and Initiative Media. He was a proud founder and CEO of Media IQ which was acquired by Accenture in 2013. Mike then chose to dedicate his career to his deepest passion of mentoring entrepreneurs and companies with great success. In 1995 he was inducted into the American Advertising Federation's prestigious Hall of Achievement, an honor that recognizes outstanding leaders in the communication industry under the age of 40. Mike co-chaired the Annual National Multiple Sclerosis Golf Outing for nearly 30 years generating over $7 million to fight the devastating disease. Mike is survived by his loving wife Jennifer and children Sophia, Mark, Tom and his husband Matthew Hay, Mary and her boyfriend Bobby Graber; his sister Jody Lotito of Hoboken, NJ, brother Dean Lotito and his wife Chris of Dunstable, MA as well as Rosemarie Battaglia and Agnes Duff of Wall Township, NJ and a very large extended family across the US. Services to be held Thursday, October 4th at 6:00 at Fourth Universalist Society at 160 Central Park West in NYC. In lieu of flowers, donations to Michael and Jennifer's newly established non- profit organization - the JML Hope Foundation - would be greatly appreciated. Checks can be made payable to the JML Hope Foundation and sent to 17 West 71st Street, Suite 5B NY, NY 10023.

Dear Jennifer and Family,
I am so sad to learn of your deep loss of Mike, just a teriffic human being in every respect. I so enjoyed getting to know him as we worked together to end multiple sclerosis, which so affected his family life. He was tireless, creative and gave his all to his 'baby', the Ridgewood golf outing for so many years...just a complete joy. He was so kind to reach out to me earlier this year to offer words of advice. I will always remember his smiling face, magnetic warmth and positive outlook to every day.
With my deepest condolences, love and hugs all around,
Frank

In all the years I knew Mike, we never spoke of religion, but in him I see a person who might not be practicing, might not be observant, yet nonetheless remains steadfastly a person of faith and belief.

I am not at all religious, and certainly not observant, but for reasons I cant entirely explain, this evening I went to my Napa synagogue to recite the Mourners Kaddish, essentially a prayer for the dead many Jews say at the time of passing of a family member, friend, or loved one.

I couldnt make Thursdays celebration of Mikes life, but to me this seemed like an appropriate way to honor his memory. Im not sure how Mike would feel about this; in many respects he struck me as modest and unassuming, but my hope is he approves.

Mike was a first-class business partner who always kept his promises, a knowledgeable expert who never made you feel foolish for asking a question, and a great guy to share a taxi or an international flight with. I will remember his smile. He will be missed.
