Michael Lovett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 29, 2024.
Michael James Lovett, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on April 26, 2024, at the age of 62. He was born in Elgin, Illinois, to Robert and Patricia Lovett.

Mike spent his childhood playing little league and sandlot baseball. A talented and accomplished wrestler, Mike was a conference high school champion earning him an invitation to the Junior Olympic trials. Mike's early love of dogs was only matched by his keen sense of humor. Developed at an early age and lasting throughout his life, it was one of his best qualities.

Mike had an expansive and successful career in telecommunications. He did not measure his profession success by the titles he achieved however impressive. Quiet in his leadership, Mike valued hard work, perseverance, and a lot of chutzpah. He led the way he lived his entire life, with authenticity, honesty, and integrity.

If you were to ask Mike what truly made him happy, he would have paused and said, "watching my family enjoy themselves". This was never truer than time spent at his favorite place, Eagle River, WI. Sitting on the dock, a cigar in one hand, a dog at his feet watching the sunset was where Mike found the simplicity of life to be the most rewarding.

A veracious reader, Mike could get lost for hours in stories about History and the occasional (he probably read them all) James Patterson book. His love of classic American car collecting filled each of his Sundays mostly just trying to get them started.

Mike's legacy will be remembered by his family as a relentless supporter of all his children. His passion for ensuring that each and everyone of them were treated uniquely and individually. He loved them fiercely and was always in the background cheering them on.

He is survived by his wife, Natalie, his 10 children (Sarah, Jack, Katherine, Emma, Nina, Luke, Cash, Jackson, Samantha, and Deacon), his mother, Patricia Lovett, his brother, Brian Lovett (Kim), sister, Kim Corrado (Frank), and multiple nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lovett.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date, and more information will be shared as it is available.

I had the privilege of working with Mike for over 20 years. He was a terrific boss, mentor and friend. While it´s been several years since I last spoke with Mike, I always knew he was a phone call away. Even when dealing with tough business situations, Mike would always make it a point to first ask how I was doing and if all was well with my girls! We had many occasions to laugh a lot about life and work situations....he was a genuine guy who worked hard and had the backs of his people. I am grateful to have known him and he will be dearly missed.

My heartfelt condolences to his wife and children! He was a proud dad who loved his children immensely! Praying for comfort and strength for his family during this very sad and difficult time!

I remember Mike for the two traits that I most admired in him: his presence, and his focus on the people around him. His presence stood out immediately - his physical size, of course; his smile and the way it could light up a conference room or office; and his energy level. Wow, he brought so much energy and enthusiasm to everything he took on. His care for the people around him stood out over time. He always looked at challenges and opportunities from the people side first. And I'll never forget the time he pulled me aside to ask, "What is it that you want to do? Tell me, and I'll help you make it happen." He meant it, and he lived it - not only with me, but with everyone he worked with over the years.
Thank you, Mike, for gifting me those memories and lesson.

I struggle to put in words how much Mike meant to me. He was a great mentor, leader, boss and a true friend. Mike was a classic midwestern gentleman who valued hard work, commitment, dedication and always strived for performance excellence. We went through good times and bad and he was always the confident one we could rely on when everything seemed difficult and confusing. He was a loyal friend and always cared about everyone's well being and their family's well being. He spoke fondly of his family and treasured the time away from work to recharge. I am saddened by his death, yet warmed and amazed at how many people he helped and supported over the years. A gifted leader with a stoic, quiet confidence, we always knew we could count on him. I will miss you Mike! RIP.

I have spent the last 4 days with a flood of memories back to the 70´s. It seems impossible that Mike is not here. Always a champion of the underdog and enjoyed seeing the regular person succeed. Mike was the poster child for the regular guy. In all the time I have spent remembering Mike ,I always come back to sheer admiration for his effort in bringing all of his children together as one family. He worked tirelessly at achieving that. Mike never faked it. His time was too short but it wasn´t wasted. He will be missed by many.

I worked with Mike at three different companies and we went through a lot of highs and lows together. Uniquely I started as Mike's boss and then later in life at a separate company Mike became my boss. I could always count on Mike to be there for me and the teams we worked with. He will be dearly missed.

Saddened by this news. Mike was always a great sounding board and I enjoyed the few times over the last few years that we were able to connect. Always made time for his friends, will be dearly missed. God Bless!
