Michael Todd McCoy

Our beloved Michael McCoy sat down to take his afternoon nap at home and died peacefully in his sleep on October 31, 2022. Most recently living in Shelby, NC, Michael grew up in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte and in Marietta, GA. He was the youngest in the family, at 56 years old. Family and friends are filled with sorrow at his sudden earthly departure. Yet, family and close friends know that this was a joyful homecoming as Michael joined his heavenly family. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty; his oldest brother, Rick, who passed one year prior; and his brothers Randy and Timmy. Left to cherish his memories are his son, Adam Trembley and his wife, Angel; his four grandchildren Makayla, Dan, Jaxon, and Addison, and his soon-to-be great grandson; and his sisters, Terry Hopkins and Linda Johnson. Michael is deeply loved by his large family and enjoyed close, active friendships with many of his eight nieces and nephews, fourteen greats-, and twenty-plus cousins. He also has two great-great nieces. Michael is loved and respected by a large network of friends to whom he affectionately referred as brothers and sisters.

Michael was very funny, quiet at times as he enjoyed listening to others, humble, kind, and a gentle spirit. He was respected nationally by his friends as an expert picker and collector of vintage signs, clocks, and pottery. Michael loved to cook and grill, garden, play guitar, tell stories, fish, tinker with mechanics, and renovate properties. If he were interested in something, he would teach himself until he mastered it. Michael was generous with his knowledge, his humor, his love, and his commitment to relationships. It is unimaginable that we never will look again into his deep brown eyes and hear his big laugh, with a nickname, a head nod, and a welcome hug. We deeply miss him and always will.

Michael's celebration of life is forthcoming for family and close friends as we adjust to life without his earthly presence. Michael Todd McCoy
