Michael Wayne Brinkle, 63, passed away unexpectedly on December 18th at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem following a tragic vehicle accident.
A graveside celebration of life will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday December 26 in Sandy Creek Cemetery, 583 Giles Rd, Lexington NC with Rev Bernie Hess officiating. The family will see friends after the service at the cemetery.
Born and raised in the West Davidson area, Mike was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, and graduated from DCCC with a Machinist Degree. Since childhood, he was outgoing and adventurous; truly living life to the fullest. Left paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair after a tractor pulling accident in 1979, Mike realized that life should go on.
He married his wife, Pattie, in 1984 and was a wonderful father to their two sons, Shaun and Chad. He continued a successful tractor pulling career into the 1990s, making great friends and memories along the way. He was blessed to spend many days working with his father, Fred, at their garage where he developed a passion toward anything with an engine.
Never letting circumstances slow him down, Mike found a way to adapt in any situation. Heavily involved in the local community and always willing to lend a helping hand, he touched and inspired many lives. He was an amazing man that will be greatly missed.
Born on July 4th, 1957, he was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Wayne Brinkle & Nancy Beck Brinkle and sister, Rhonda Brinkle Haywood. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Pattie Davis Brinkle; son Shaun (Morgan Brookshire); son Chad (Leighanne); and grandchild Emilia. Along with numerous family members and friends that he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (4299 S NC Highway 150, Lexington, NC 27295) or to a charitable organization close to your heart.

Time spent in the presence of Mike was always cherished time. Loved to hear him talk about the loves of his life. Family, cars, boats, lake, as well as what was going on in the community that we both lived in and loved. Always at the top of the list was Pattie and the two boys and their families, and let’s not forget that beautiful granddaughter.
May time heal your heart and leave you with cherished memories of a wonderful God filled man.
