Michael OBEY Obituary
Michael Jay Obey (Baka) peacefully passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on January 26, 2017. Baka was born December 25, 1974 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He is survived by his mother, Karen Obey, father Mervin Sunshine, sister Sonja Sunshine, wife D'Shalla Desjarlais, two sons: Jo-Wel LaRose and Darias Obey, kokum Cora, aunt Buffy Sainte Marie, Nasiyah, Jareem, Majid, Robert, many beloved kokums, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends in Calgary. Baka lived a full and happy life in Calgary, Alberta before returning to Regina. His kind, caring, and humorous demeanor will be missed by all who were lucky to meet him. A traditional wake will be held on Piapot First Nation on Monday, January 30 at 4:00 p.m. His funeral will take place at Piapot First Nation on Tuesday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be made online at
