Michael PONICH Obituary
On November 5, 2015, Mike Ponich passed away after a long illness at the age of 77 years.
Beloved husband of Rochelle (Hudson) for 54 years; loving father of Glenn (Susan) and Steven (Janet), and predeceased by son, David. Lovingly remembered by his cherished grandchildren, Caitlyn, David, and Gregory; brothers, Walter (Ruth); Orest (Gloria); sisters, Evelyn (Ed) and Olga (George). Predeceased by brother, Bill; sister, Elsie; and parents, Anne and Gregory.
Mike loved his golf, billiards, and coaching young hockey players, and all the friends he made while doing this, and walking the Mall and telling his jokes. Special thanks to the caring staff at Capital Care Grandview, 2nd floor, and previously to staff at UAH Unit 5F3.
Divine Liturgy on Thursday, November 12, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7007 - 109 Street, Edmonton, AB. Interment in St. Anthony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Capital Care Grandview Auxiliary Association.

Dear Rochelle and Family.
I was sad to hear of Mike's passing. Over the years, I always enjoyed both your and Mike's company sitting next to you at the Edmonton Coliseum. I especially remember Mike's private commentary play by play. Then, of course how we would reminisce about Mike's connection to Vegreville . Thinking of you at this time.

I had the good fortune of working closely with Mike for 20 years, spending many hours of road time with him and tons of great discussions. His dedication to his beloved family and his elevated attention to his job and undertakings within our community were second to none. He was a great friend and working companion! So sad to hear that Mike passed away last Thursday. We have lost one of the very best. I worked with Mike for over 25 years and I will miss the occasional by chance meetings Tina and I had with he and Rachel over the years. Tina and I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Rochelle her son's.
