MICHAEL SENKIW Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 9, 2003.
MICHAEL SENKIW 1979 2003 _ Michael Senkiw entered into eternal rest on August 29, 2003, near Bengough, SK, due to an auto accident, at the age of 24. Michael was born on January 22, 1979 to Connie and John Senkiw at Lestock, SK and lived with his parents in Wishart, SK. Then in August of 1981 the family moved to Foam Lake. Michael spoke Ukrainian for the first two years of his life and only learned to speak English when the family moved to Foam Lake and Michael would play with the neighborhood children. Michael attended the Foam lake Elementary School and graduated from the Foam Lake Composite High School in 1997. While in school, Michael played hockey, football and golf. Upon completion of high school Michael began working on the oilrigs in Estevan. His work took him to places in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Michael also worked with Bahry Glass in Regina and Coram Construction in Saskatoon. Michael was planning on attending University in Saskatoon in January 2004. Michael took the opinion of his parents to heart and looked forward to their advice and guidance. Michael was a very ambitious person and very family oriented and always enjoyed the company of younger children. Michael always tried to treat all people that he met with the greatest of respect and love. Michael also had a great talent of cooking, and sometimes he would take over the kitchen. Sometimes, Jennifer, Michael's girlfriend, would come home to a perfectly prepared candlelight dinner just because he cared. In Michael's spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, playing pool, recreational hockey and football. Michael was also a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Foam Lake; and even when Michael did not speak the language much, he always enjoyed the music and singing in church that the choir provided during the services. Michael also attended the Orthodox Church Camp at Crystal Lake at Camp Trident. Michael was predeceased by his grandfathers, Peter Senkiw in 1969 and Michael Babij in 1990. Michael leaves to celebrate and rejoice in his memory his loving parents: John and Connie Senkiw of Foam Lake. Michael also leaves to celebrate in his memory his grandmothers, Vera Senkiw and Teenie Babij, both of Wynyard. He also leaves to celebrate in his memory his sisters, Carey and her husband, Steve Moretti of Carlsbad, CA, USA, Tracy Cardinal of Swift Current and Annamarie Senkiw of Saskatoon. Michael also leaves to rejoice in his memory, his very special friend and companion, Jennifer Shire of Kellier, SK. He also leaves to recall his memory the many friends that knew and loved him. Dear grieving family: Please accept today our sincere and heart-filled sympathy on the passing of your son, brother and dear friend. We pray that our Heavenly Father will continue to guide and protect Michael in his new life, where there will be no more pain, no more sorrow, and no more tears of sadness, but only everlasting life, the life that was promised to him, that life that Michael rightfully deserves. God Grant Him, His Eternal Memory! The family thank you sincerely for sharing in their sorrow. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated and will always be remembered. We did not know that evening, The sorrow that day would bring The bitter grief, the shock severe To have to part with one so dear. We did not see you close your eyes Or hear your final sigh. We only heard that you were gone Too late to say goodbye. Only those who have lost can tell, The pain in the heart of not saying farewell You died as you lived, everyone's friend, To a beautiful life comes a sudden end. For now until we meet again, We laugh, we cry, we play our parts, But beneath it all lays our broken hearts. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Michael Senkiw's memory to Foam Lake Composite School Scholarship Fund, Mohyla Institute Refurbishment Fund.
