Michael Stoller, 75, loving husband of Jacqueline for 53 years; proud father of Richard (Deirdre), Kenneth, and Peter (Amy); playful grandpa to Angeline, Emily, and Austin; and dear brother of Arthur, passed away on March 11, 2016, from congestive heart failure. Born in the Bronx, he lived in Old Bethpage, NY; Canton, CT; and Williamsburg, VA before moving to Leisure World in Silver Spring. He was a retired English and logic teacher (Bethpage, NY; New Milford, CT; and College of William and Mary adult learning) who so influenced his classes that when they heard of his illness, students from decades ago contacted him to say how much he had changed their lives. He was an avid bridge player, sports fan, and gardener. Even in illness, he could still recall the lyrics to dozens of rock ‘n roll songs. Smart, funny, and quirky, he will forever be missed by his family.

Mike was barely known to me. I was his bridge partner just once, but I got to know him personally quite fast, which surprised me. We shared a common interest in the English language and discussed how conventional grammar in both spoken and written English had suffered so much in recent years. He loved the beauty of the English language and thoroughly enjoyed discussing "proper" English grammar. I will miss our conversations on grammar and bridge, and I'm sure his family and close friends will miss his company greatly.

Wonderful guy! My husband dropped dead at 48 yrs; it doesn't make it any easier, but you were blessed to have so many years together. You, Mike, and all you love are in my prayers. Ann Ingram

Michael was a special cousin when we cousins were little. I will always remember him as "Mikey Pikey, Pail and Shovel", which we used to call him because his pail and shovel were inseparable from him when we played together. Although we have not been in contact for so very many years, I received regular word of him and your family via Arthur and my sister Emily. I've always had warm feelings for him, and remember so well our playing times together when we were really young. I am saddened by his loss. -Robert Hurwitz

Jackie,
I am so sorry to hear of loss of your beloved husband. I still cherish the time both of you opened your home to Jim and me when we were in Williamsburg on vacation. Both of us enjoyed the great dinner and wonderful conversation with Michael, you, Deirdre, Rich, and Emily those many years ago. Michael had such a great wit and I see that in Deirdre's husband. I appreciated Deirdre's invitation to dinner when the two of you were in State College visiting them, so I could enjoy Michael and your company again. You are a strong woman... Hold your memories in your heart.
