CARPENTERSVILLE - Michelle L. Pheiffer nee Gazdik, 35, of Carpentersville, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
She was born June 17, 1973, in Elgin, to John and Fern Gazdik.
She was an elementary school graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School and a graduate of St. Edwards High School. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and later a master's degree in business administration at Northern Illinois University.
She was employed by Altria for 14 years as a unit territory sales manager. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She enjoyed reading, crafts, traveling and sports. She was an avid University of Illinois and Chicago White Sox supporter. She was involved with various philanthropic activities, including women's shelters, Habitat for Humanity and The Salvation Army.
She genuinely enjoyed her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, a loving sister, a loving wife and a loving friend. Her warm smile and infectious laugh touched those who met her.
She is survived by her husband, Aaron Christopher Pheiffer; her parents; her brother, Kevin Gazdik; her aunts, Sister Margaret Gazdik and Sammie (Bill) Eckstein; her parents-in-law, Gary and Theresa Pheiffer; her grandparents through marriage, Elsie Hanna and Ray Pheiffer; a sister-in-law, Valerie (John) Hawkins; her nephews, Owen and Luke Hawkins; and her cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Lorene Brown; her paternal grandparents, John and Anna Gazdik; an aunt, Myrna Orr; and her grandparents through marriage, John W. Hanna and Loretta Pheiffer.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Earl presiding.
Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Elgin.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Dear Aaron, Fern, John and Kevin
Today I celebrate Michelle's Life on her birthday, her laughter, her gentleness, her ethics, her wisdom beyond her years, her friendship, her strengh she has given me and many others, her love that she gave us and our's that we gave her, the list is endless...
what do I say except that I love her and I miss her dearly. I hope she has a wonderful birthday, until we meet again.

Dear Gazdik and Pheiffer families,
I want to extend my sincere condolences to both families. I just found out today from a college and Alpha Gamma Delta friend about Michelle's passing. I was in her pledge class. She was always so sweet and kind. She always had a smile on her face and brightened everyone's day with her smile, sparkling eyes, and wonderful laugh. Even though I haven't spoken to her in over 10 years, I will always remember her fondly. I pray that you will find peace and strength in Jesus Christ and in knowing that He loves Michelle even more than we all do.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you. I feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with Michelle for as long as I did. We worked together for over four years, and I didn't have a better friend or confidant at PM. For years I was always chasing her great results. Now I think to myself every day, what would Michelle do in this situation. She is deeply missed.

To the dear family of Michelle--Thank you so much for sharing this radiant woman with the world. It must be very painful getting through the holidays, but somehow I know you have felt a glimpse Michelle's joy--she sparkled more than Christmas lights on Michigan Avenue. I haven't seen her in more than ten years but I remember her smile and her eyes and her fabulous teased out 90s sorority hair. She was always so much fun in college and always a woman of character and integrity and care as well. My mom read me the newspaper today, New Years' Day, and when I told my husband and kids, my daughter asked if we could pray. Two little girls and a little boy in England were praying for you all today by name. Ten thousand blessings to you all and the space and time to heal.

My mother passed on the news to me and I was deeply sadden, Michelle was such a sincere and loving person, I have grade school memories from St. Joe's of her helping me learn my first cheers.
We ask ourselves over and over why things like this happen, but only God knows. Faith will be your comfort as you take day by day.

Michelle,
I will never forget you and the times we had growing up. The snow forts in your back yard, playing chinese jump rope, the houses we made out of refrigerator boxes in your garage.
The memory that sticks out the most is our dreams that we would someday work at McDonalds. How we would collect the fry and Big Mac boxes along with Coke cups and play drive thru in my basement. I know that we grew apart over years that does not mean that I will miss you any less. Thank you for those times and years being my best friend.

Words can not express the shock and sorrow that Jane & I felt after reading of Michelle's passing. She was such a loving person. Someone that we have known since she attended St. Joseph grade school and someone who would always go out of her way to say hello when she saw us and always would ask about our daughter Molly. I remember the last ime that I saw Michelle, It was in the lobby of the Westin hotel in San Antonio. This was in March of 2001. We were both there to see the U of I play in the NCAA tournament. Her smile is somrthing that I will always remember. Our thoughts are with the Gazdik family.
