Mike D. "Smitty" Smith

Mike "Smitty" Smith, age 61 of McCalla, AL passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018. Mike grew up in Gardendale, AL and was a graduate of the University of Alabama. He had a passion for traveling and enjoyed going with his buds on motorcycle trips; snow skiing out West, and especially the many beach trips with Kim. He could always be found cooking something up in the kitchen or outdoors taking care of his beautiful yard. Friends and visitors often commented that his back yard reminded them of the Botanical Gardens. Mike loved his Crimson Tide football and could relax in front of his TV watching old western movies. Mike was part-owner of Vulcan Publications and currently worked as sales manager for Triple S (Severe Service Specialist) in Trussville, AL. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry E. Smith; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Smith and Mr. and Mrs. James B. Sansing. He is survived by his mother, Fay Smith of Gardendale; and "the Love of his Life", Kim Giordano of McCalla, Al; and a step-son, Dustin Edgar (Mary); his special friends, Randy and Susan Erwin along with many other friends. A Celebration of Mike's life will be held on Wednesday, September 12th at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel with visitation from 12 noon to service time at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale.
